My Face

Thursday, December 30, 2010

Another birthday cupcakes for a boy - design is the Birthday Boy! My customer showed me the picture of the boy and asked me to mimic. So here's the comical version of the boy hehe. Plain black and white but it looks just as interesting when you put all together!

The feedback I got after the party was it did look very much like him haha. So happy that my mission accomplished!

Broken heart

A very interesting order indeed. All my orders had so far been for birthdays, weddings, appreciation and whatever joyous occassions. Personally, I was in a little shock when the word DIVORCE was requested to be on the cupcakes. For the first time my cupcakes was used for a total different reason. And I was wondering could this be just a joke? Hmmmm...i can only wonder

Plain cupcakes but yet straight forward message

This christmas theme mini cake was one of the last few masterpiece to end the year. I baked it especially for my two buddies' birthday. Baby Hazelle turns One!

My little niece is also one of the many year end babies. "My Melody" is actually her mom's favourite character :-p. Now, her mom got her wish came true!  Wait till baby Hazelle can tell what she likes on the birthday cake next year...hehe.

I was appointed to be the clown to entertain the children. Luckily my balloon folding skill still not that rusty.

Mickey and Minnie

Mickey and Minnie had somehow lost their popularity with so many new cartoons being created over the years. I remember watching it after school and were simply entertained by the easy actions and most importantly it has only little scripts…so we didn’t really have to pay full attention to understand what’s going on. Life was so simple back then :-p

I'm glad that to know that there are still many Mickey and Minnie fans out there.
Happy Birthday Yi Jing!

Baby Chun Keat 1st Birthday

We are just a couple of weeks away before we say bye bye to Year 2010 and welcome Year 2011. From all the one year old birthday cake order I received lately, it made me realized that year end seems to be a popular period to have baby. hmmm I wonder why?? Is it because of the holiday season that creates the mood? Post me a comment if you agree with me hehe. Even in office, we celebrated many Nov and Dec babies’ birthday…so it further proven that the tradition continues.

This cake is ordered by Chun Keat’s mother. Her boy is born in the Year of Ox…so she asked for a 3D cow figurine decorated with a milk bottle, a ladybug and a bee.

Hope Chun Keat will always remember his first birthday cake!

Baby Aimi 1st Birthday

The small little baby represents baby Aimi who is turning ONE. In the mother's eye, their child will always remain their baby regardless how old they are already :-)...is that true all mummies out there? Aimi's mother wanted sweet colours so I've chosen pastel pink and purple as the main colours and just a little touch of yellow for contrast. Somehow the little buttons around the cake also created a cosy baby feeling for me..hehe.

Marry Me?

Monday, October 25, 2010

Ahhhh..here comes my first proposal cake! Simpe and "straight forward" design. The wording says it all. I love the fact that she (yes is a she...bravo to the shift!) asked for one cupcake with no design on it so that she can place the proposal ring right on top of it. I dont think he can miss the "bling bling" and just eat the cake hahaha. Am sure this will melt her boyfriend's heart away...how can he say NO? Let's wait for the good news...or her next order shall be wedding cupcakes haha

This also works best for those who dare not express it out in person ;-) Maybe can have 2 more cupcakes - one with a "YES" and another with a "NO"... and see which one outlast.

Floral

A simple floral cake ordered by my colleague for her friend's birthday.  Happy birthday Sally and Pauline...hope you like the cake.

Wedding Anniversary

Sunday, October 24, 2010

Have you ever thought of cupcakes to give to your spouse for wedding anniversary? This customer ordered a couple teddy bear cupcakes to represent her loving hubby and herself in celebration of their 2nd wedding anniversary.  She requested the colour theme to be white, grey and blue. Will cupcakes touches a man's heart the same way like it work on women?? We shall find out soon hehe...

Lovely Hearts

This lovely boyfriend surprised his girlfriend with a cake for her birthday.  I am sure his "honey" will be touched by the surprise.

Sweet Flowers

This customer was looking for something nice with the criteria of having her daughter's favourite colours, pink and purple.  It is always a challenge when a customer gives you an "open option" as you would not know if the output turns out to be something that they'll like.  I tried something new this time by putting some wires on the mini flowers to create some dimensional effect on the cake.

Here comes my baby "teng teng teng tenngg"...Renee's mom was really satisfied with the cake and she immediately called me to place order for the next occasion.

Princess Tiara Cake

Sunday, October 10, 2010

I received a call from Samantha just not long after I reached home from a long business trip. She wanted to order a 2 tier cake for her 7th year old daughter, Ling. I was a bit hesitant to accept the order as I was exhausted from the long trip and havent gotten a chance to catch up my sleep. Didnt have the heart to turn her down, I worked on her order looking really zombified :-0 and at the same time taking the challenge to do my first 2 tier cake.

Samantha was not really sure what design to choose but she wanted something girlish so I proposed to her a princess tiara design.

I was so delighted to see the result and was even happier to receive an SMS from Samantha saying that the cake is so fantastic and her daugher, Ling likes it very much. What can be more satisfying than to see the smiles on the children faces...arrrrr.

My aunt's 60th Birthday

Monday, September 20, 2010

I was pretty blank when I start to think of the design I want to make for my aunt. It's her 60th birthday and I knew that she haven't had a cake for birthday since dunno when...so I thought a simple cake for her would be nice. Themes for children are so easy to think off...they usually like cartoons, superheros, animals and basically colourful figurines. I thought of doing something "traditional" this time to match her age hehe and the idea of longevity buns (in cantonese it's called Shao Pao) came to my mind. Why do people consume this during birthday celebrations?? What's the real meaning behind...anyone know the ancient chinese history behind the buns?

Well, the simple meaning to me is just requesting for longevity as the name can tell. Which is exactly what I wished for my aunt - wishing her good health and all the happiness in the world!

Transportation

Sunday, September 19, 2010

My customer told me her 4 yrs old son loves transportation so she wanted me this theme for his cake. So I've made these for him - we have train, helicopter, boat, bus, car and tractor.
She told me her son was so delighted to see his birthday cake. Happy Birthday Yee Fan!

Tom & Jerry

Tom and Jerry is also my first attempt. My friend ordered Barney and Friends cupcakes for her daughter's birthday last year. This year she wanted to try Tom & Jerry mini cake. I was quite happy how it turn out to be...hope the birthday girl is excited to see her cake :-)

49th Anniversary

Cupcakes for wedding anniversary or dating anniversary are the common orders I usually get. My customer ordered these cupcakes in celebration of a monk's 49th anniversary. By far this is the most unique order. Cupcakes can be used for in so many ways to touch peoples' heart...so just be creative and have fun with cupcakes!

Service appreciation

A manager in my company ordered these cuppies as a token of appreciation for her subordinates' 5 years service. What could be a sweeter way to say thank you. I think the cupcakes will definitely bring some smiles to their faces. Cheers ~

This new design is a breakthrough of my conventional round mini cake. My customer bought this cake to surprise her boyfriend who loves to play snooker.

Baby baby

My friend, Yen wants a birthday cake for her hubby. She requested for 3-D figurine to represent her hubby and her pregnant self. To add to the celebration she decides to use baby's face to welcome the arrival of their first baby in Aug. Happy Birthday Rico! And Yen, wish you a safe and easy breezy delivery :-)

I love Nemo

I made this specially for my niece's birthday. Happy Birthday Jess!

Super 18-SX

I cant stop smiling to myself while doing this design. Wei Kah's friends wants a "hotter" version of the 18-SX design they ordered last year for his birthday. I'm just trying my best to meet my customer's request..hehe..why don't you take a look yourself. Happy Birthday Wei Kah!! Oooohhh la la......

Kean Bing and Kiat Ping's wedding

Kiat Ping ordered the cupcakes to serve her friends and relatives during the wedding ceremony. Wonder who ate the Bride and Groom..hehe.

Puppies for Mandy

Happy Birthday Mandy! Your mommy told me you love puppies...hope you'll love my puppies too!

A minicake to go with some cuppies.

Cute Animals

A mother requested a cute design for her daughter's birthday but she has no specific idea how she wants the cake to be. So I thought about it and decided to try a new animal collections.

The colourful design is just perfect for young children. Love it!

New collections

Friday, June 25, 2010

Hello everyone. I'm back! I know I've been MIA for awhile already. Well, I did slow down abit with the orders as I just needed more time to deal with my personal matters, my children and also the growing load at work. And after dealing with all that, there isn't much of "self time"?? Sigh! I guess this is the most common problem a working mom might face or struggle with all the time. Despite my hectic schedules lately, I still managed to allocate some time to do my baking and cake decorating. Doing something you enjoy really helps to de-stress and puts my mind off from my daily routines. So here are my new collections of mni theme cakes and cupcakes to share with you all :-)
