Loveable and huggable bears....

Monday, December 12, 2011

This will be probably the last order I will take to end Year 2011. I've decided to temporary stop taking orders and have a good rest before the new year begins. My "honeymoon" period at work did not last long enough for me to enjoy. Now my plate is filled with new projects and tonnes of deadlines AGAIN. Which leads to my decision to take life easy for the remaining of December at least :-)

I was surprised when I learned that my customer is from KL. He was in Penang for holiday. He googled my contact and immediately called me up to place order. Perhaps this was unplanned and he wanted to suprise his sweetheart.

Dibo

I personally like this Dibo cake alot. Not because I'm a fan of Dibo but mainly because of the bright colours and challenges moulding this baby out that day. Somehow it gives me a sense of satisfaction completing it.

Cynthia, my colleague ordered this for her 2 years old daughter. She was so pleased with the cake that she sent me a personal thank you note. You are most welcome, Cynthia. It was my pleasure too! I also have to thank her for her advance booking next year and for the recommendations to her friends.

Animal Kingdom

It's Hazelle's birthday again! Wow time passed really fast. I started making her fullmoon cupcakes, followed by her 1st birthday cake and now it's her 2nd birthday already. I wonder yee yee can still bake her 21st birthday cake or not hahaha.

Her mummy decided to use animal theme for her celebration this year. She told me Hazelle still dunno how to appreciate too girlie themes and noticed that she don't fancy dolls and PINK is not her favourite colour.

Why we choose giraffe as her cake topper? For a very simple reason, just to match her cute giraffe hairband (from her mummy's personal collection).

Display on 2-tier cake holder

Hazelle blowing her candle as the kids waiting anxiously...

wokay...candle's off and cake cut already...time to grab your cuppies!
Overall, it was a fun celebration. The children enjoyed the playground and each others' company. No fighting, arguing and crying hahaha

Disney Princess

Friday, December 9, 2011

Every year I will either be cracking my head thinking of what theme to use for my kids' birthday cake or will be scratching my head over their special requests. Believe me, it can be rather pressuring coz they will observe me in details and pass blunt remarks when things turned out ermmm…not quite the same hahaha. Never give me chance for first timer to rectify and improve further. But of course, when they happily say the cake look nice, it also meant the world to me and not to mention the boost in my confidence level.

Shermaine requested Disney’s princesses for her 10th birthday. We usually have small celebration with family members only. Each children gets one princess cupcake…some already make early reservation for their favourite princess hehe. Then, you will be wondering why there's a Mr Forggy in the picture :-) It's for my little boy! Poor thing he's the odd one out in the family full of girlssss (for many years and still is). So he shall be the "Prince Charming" lo.

This time around I didnt make more cakes for the adults. Many are not fond of cakes and I think i had enough looking at cakes rather than eating them.

21st Birthday

This order was from my neighbour. We met while we were in the lift. I was holding my cake to deliver to a customer on that day. She quickly asked for namecard and few days later she called me up to place order for this mini cake.

Angry birds cupcakes for Aileen

Monday, October 10, 2011

My ex boss Aileen called me up one fine day to order angry birds cupcakes, not for any special occasion but simply because she can't stand how adorable they are. I'd worked with her since 10+ years ago but we have kept in touch and became good friend ever since. I'll always cherished the period working under her and the friendship we've shared.

Aileen told me she had a hard time convincing people to "just eat" the cute little birds. I reallly wonder how long more the angry birds fever is going last......

Smurfs

I was really excited to get back in touch again with my ex classmate, Kooi Im recently through the most powerful social network "Facebook". We've actually lost contact since we left school...eon years ago...shall not reveal the number of years thou hahaha. She got to know that I do part-time baking now from the the pictures that I'd posted in FB.

Kooi Im said her 5 year old son loves Smurfs alot so she requested for Papa Smurf, Smurfette and any other male smurf with their special home, "mushroom house". Smurf is another big hit now since the release of the movie. So happy that they bring the Smurfs back to live again. I used to watch the cartoon when I was "young". I bet Shaun's classmate will go wild fighting for the cake topper....or they might end up with broken arms, legs and head haha.

Elmer the Elephant

This was Julita's 2nd order for her son's special occassions. She wanted a simple Elmer the Elephant mini cake to go with some choc cuppies just topped with cream. Making Elmer is not technically challenging but just requires some patience cutting the colourful fondants into squares and in matching size of course. Heard Aqil's birthday party was a blast...the kids had a memorable fun time playing in the pool!!

Welcome cum Birthday

Wednesday, August 24, 2011

The phrase - ONE stone kill FOUR birds perfectly matches the occasion. The cupcakes were for their department's birthday celebration for 3 person and also to welcome a visiting manager from US.

Pooh and Friends

Pooh bear and friends is another popular choice. Yan Xin is celebrating her 4th birthday and like many girls their favourite colour is PINK.

Happy Bear Family

This is an order from Yen again. I really feel blessed and happy that my cake leaves a footprint at different phase of her life. She has ordered from me since she and her husband were still dating until they got married and then got pregnant. And guess what, now it’s for her baby boy 1 year old celebration!

Papa, Mama and Baby bear....a heart warming happy family!

Fullmoon

Kovitha ordered these cupcakes as a give away to thank her colleagues. The initial K represents the name of her baby boy.
Congratulations on being a mum. Nothing will ever compare to the joy, love and delight a child will bring into ur lives!

Angry Birds

Thanks to Apple, Angry Birds game has shot to fame overnight. It’s no longer just an addictive puzzle game. The brandname has expanded it’s popularity to merchandise, television shows, movies and even food ie cake :-)

Repeated orders for this design clearly showed that Angry Birds virus has widely spread amongst the children and obviously their parents.

This is my 2nd version of Angry bird mini cake

Gift Box

Wednesday, July 6, 2011

2 weeks ago, my buddy hand over to me the task of deciding her daughter's birthday cake design. She had no idea of the perfect cake for her 13 years old daughter. We were worried that she might not be so fond of cartoon characters anymore considering her age now. So I took the risk and made her this gift box (2 tier) cake.

And guess what? Our dear Jo Yee was jumping up and down and cheering around when she saw her cake. Her mummy was even more delighted to receive a special thank you note from her beloved daughter in Facebook! This is called mother and daughter networking LOL. So heart warming isn't it?

iPad 2

Monday, June 20, 2011

Reanne was disappointed that her ipad 2 cannot arrive on time for her boyfriend's 21st birthday celebration. She then brilliantly gave me this cake idea and hopes that the iPad cake can be used as a temporary replacement present. I think he will be more that delighted to see his ipad cake + a real ipad on the way....

My niece already gave me a standing order for this design for her next birthday. Small kids also know what is ipad :-p

Angry Birds + Longevity Buns

My best friend Nicole called me up one day asking me for ideas for her dad's 71st birthday celebration. One might wonder how come we end up doing Angry Birds theme for a 71 yrs old man..LOL!

Nicole and I thought, why not we do something out of his expectation. So, we decided on Angry Birds theme since this game is such a hit now and can give the grandchildren a chance to explain to Ah Kong haha. Maybe the kids can intro to Ah Kong the game and get him addicted to it as well...who knows!!!

At the same time, we also want to keep the chinese tradition of wishing our elder long and healthy life! So the "sao pao" is a must have item. It was indeed an awkward but meaningful combination one can thought off :-)

SpongeBob and Patrick

Before this, I thought the Yellow thingy is actually the sponge we use in the kitchen for washing hahaha. Yaaa yaaa...I'm what they called "Katak dibawah Tempurung" (translated to english is frog under the coconut shell) LOL!!. Just that I've never bother to learn more when people say Spongebob Spongebob...yaa I know the yellow sponge.

I had to do some research and obviously, I'd learned that they lived under the sea and the yellow sponge is actually a sea sponge. Wahh so clever! I didnt know got such thing called sea sponge until today hehe. Accompanying Spongebob is his best buddy Patrick Star (should be a starfish hehe). Hopefully, Oscar will love his birthday cake, a gift from Auntie Jie Ying.

Fathers' Day cum Birthday Celebration

May Lee ordered this special theme cupcakes for a 5-in-1 celebrations in her family. The 5 figurines represent - her father, her father-in-law, her hubby, her brother-in-law and last but not least her mother-in-law. You may be wondering why MIL is the odd one out here. The cuppies were meant for Fathers' Day celebration and her mother in law's birthday which falls on the same day. Hope the colourful cupcakes did bring some joy to the occasions!

Glory glory MU

Manchester United is one of the wealthiest and has the most supporters in the world. It has become a global brand with their fans going crazy over their jerseys and other merchandises. And now, the brand fever has spread over to cake. I think my latest MU design can become the ultimate favourite to the die hard MU fans out there!

Cutie Bear

The white and brown teddy bear are Rou Shuen's favourite toys. Her mummy ordered this special cake to celebrate her one year milestone. Happy Birthday Rou Shuen!

Home Sweet Home

Tuesday, June 7, 2011

This was a special gift to her boyfriend. She told me the home represents some really special to both of them. Let me guess....could it mean she's ready to be "MRS ?" already??? *Hint* *hint*...hope her boyfriend get it lor hehe.

My honey's hobbies

This unique design was inspired by my customer. Each design represents the things that her boyfriend loves. Clearly, her bf loves to have some beer and smoke while watching his favourite team MU in game.

Earth Day 2011

April 22nd marked Earth Day 2011. This year Funbakez gets to be part of this meaningful campaign to create awareness and appreciation for our deteriorating environment. Intel HR, Malaysia team celebrated a belated Earth Day on 9th May by giving each team member a cupcake. The objectives was to invite their team member to be part of Earth day and to continue their efforts to create a clean, healthy and diverse world for generations to come!

Bid your farewell

Getting a farewell gift always gives me a headache. Common items like mug, photo frame and decorative display items have been long considered as "out of fashion". Food was not top of the list either as they are "digestible" and perishable, hehe then what's left to remember? Thanks to creative baking in the recent years, more and more people now choose to use cupcakes in replacement of a farewell gift. I believe a cute cupcake will definitely bring a smile or two to the receipient. And, that's a more valueable memories to bring home! Don't you agree with me? :-)

This was from a boss showing her appreciation to her staff on her final day!

Money come come - God of Fortune

Monday, March 7, 2011

God of Fortune cake for a friend's birthday hoping that he will bless him with more wealth and luck in the year of Rabbit. As the saying goes...ONGGG and HUATTT arrrr!

Happy Clown

This 2 tier cake was for Ian's birthday celebration at his nursery. Nowadays, it's so common for children to have multiple or at least 2 birthday celebrations. Ian told me his friends were all so excited to see his colourful clown cake. Many were fighting to get the clown...I wonder how their teacher dismantle and share out the clown? hehe

Ian's 4th birthday!

My boy was really fascinated by Alvin ever since he watched the movie Alvin and the Chipmunks. He has watched it countless times and yet every time he still giggles by their crazy stunts. His favourite of the 3 is of course Alvin, the mischievous troublemaker.
It's probably Alvin's character has close resemblances to his naughty and playful self. He just never gets tired of talking non-stop, running around, jumping and teasing people....that's my boy!
Here's the cake that he requested to have a year ago! And he reminds me everytime he sees me bake for other people...yaaa that's my long winded boy!

Cant wait to cut his cake so that he can eat ALVIN!
